About the Artist

Susan Metzger has been working with batik for more than thirty years. Using waxes and dyes on cotton, she creates landscapes, florals and wildlife images that have been shown across the country. The crackle effect that batik is known for is especially effective for historic architecture. Recently she began using encaustic techniques to fuse her batiks to boards, allowing the viewer more immediate contact. She bases her images on photos that she takes on her travels across the world.
