About the Artist

I transitioned from a gallery to a private studio in 2022. After 50 years of potting I'm using the Open Studio as an oportunity to thank the generations of support I've had in the Grand Valley.

I ue the potter's wheel more infrequently these days. Taditional glaze ingredients have changed. Industrial mining for potters glazes has always been a by product of a much more profitable industires.

What once were common ingredients, are becoming obsolete.
I no longer wish to keep up with the science.

The Open studio will give me a chance to show what I've made recetlhy. Guests will see current work,, and have an opportunity to purchse parts of historic collections. I'll have a vast array of potter's goods. I'll be scaling down those things I've collected for 'future' use, Perhaps they may be of use to your creative mind.

Most importantly, I'm an experienced clay professional who now choses how I prefer to spend my time in the studio. I work from the heart. The Open Studio is a good opportunity to see an art's space without the BS.

You''ll see my latest work. Did I mention I also paint?
If the pace of the visitors is manageable, I'll invite you to shape a small piece for yourself.

I discovered, long ago, that being a successful ceramic artist in the grand valley had a nepotonistic quality. II hope I've proven that misguided. I feel such opinions do not promote a greater good. I have survived wthout nepotism.

Hope to see you during the Open House.
